MAEC Crop Walk
The Crop Walk is an annual event to benefit the hungry, refugees, victims of natural disasters (earthquakes/hurricanes/etc.) throughout the world. It is sponsored by Church World Services and locally by the Mystic Area Ecumenical Council (MAEC) of which we are a member.
The Crop Walk usually takes place on the third Sunday of October. It starts at 1:15 pm at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Pearl St, next to Dinoto’s Funeral Home. The walk goes to Noank (Spicer Park) where there will be refreshments and returns to St. Mark’s. Rides are available for anyone who decides they don’t want to walk the entire distance. In case of inclement weather, the walk will be cancelled but donations will be collected inside St. Mark’s at 1:00 pm.
A sign-up sheet at the entrance of the church will be available for anyone interested in walking, running, riding, or supporting someone who will be taking part in the Walk. If you are willing to walk, please seek out donations from others. If you are unable to walk, please sponsor someone who can walk that day.
Donation envelopes are inside the large envelope with the sign-up sheet. “Walkers” are encouraged to sign-up and take a donation envelope with them. Instructions are printed on the envelopes.
Thank you for considering this charitable act!
